Cork peels – the basic product – are to be stored in a chamber. This has to be done immediately after harvest to impede contamination with germs. Sliced cork bark shall be stored under sterile conditions. Any humidification and / or washing of the cork materials shall only be carried out with sterile water / water vapor. Following these steps, chlorination of the cork materials can be omitted. The result is a sustainable solution. Neither cork smell nor cork taint will occur.
