Ozone is naturally occurring triatomar
oxygen, typically present in
atmospheric concentrations up to 10 - 15 parts per hundred million (pphm)
of air, and occasionally higher. Even at these low levels, ozone reacts
readily with unsaturated elastomers, promoting cracking and possible
failure of rubber parts in service. Ozone test chambers provide an
effective means of assessing the resistance of rubber compounds to ozone
degradation under controlled atmospheric conditions.

Professional ozone control in ambient air. The atmosphere contains natural ozone gas, which is moved by the air ventilation into buildings and facilities. A lot of industrial equipments are also producing ozone by electrical discharge and by light radiation inside the industrial facilities. Especially with rubber products like tires, the influence of ozone is severe in terms of material quality. Rubber has a natural tendency to rapidly deteriorate in the presence of ozone. Rubber materials get cracks and fastly loose quality when exposed to ozone gas.

Semiconductor facilities use ozone for dry and wet cleaning processes. After use, the ozone must by destroyed to protect the enviroment. An ozone reductor based on a thermal heat exchanger is a perfect solution for such kinds of tasks. It is small in size, economic (low power consumption), maintenance-free, resistant against water vapour, acids and solvents, and, furthermore, suitable for all processes with automatic control features. |

Ozone is widely used in semiconductor processing for wet cleaning. Ozonated water must be drained continuously or intermittently. High ozone concentrations can damage the drainage piping or emission can occur in working areas. This can cause severe safety problems. To avoid any danger to materials and humans, ozone must be destroyed completely. |
